Iconic Philly artist Isaiah Zagar (born March 1939) is the creator of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens as well as thousands of outdoor and indoor mosaic murals, paintings and sculptures. In 2024, he transferred ownership and use of his Watkins Street Studio to the PMG organization.
Magic Gardens is reaching out to the Philly community to get input on the types of programs and experiences they should offer at the studio.
I really enjoyed exploring and greeting visitors to Isaiah Zagar’s studio space as a PMG volunteer for their fall open house. There’s an abundance of his iconic art and sculpture covering every inch from floor to ceiling to enjoy.
In addition to the mosaic walls and floors, there are more than a dozen found object chandeliers by the Zagars’ friend and artist Warren Muller. Currently, the space is open for guided tours and special programs. Check the Magic Gardens website for Watkins studio events.
