Benjamin Rush State Park is a free, dog-friendly nature refuge just blocks from Roosevelt Blvd.
Finding the car entrance was a little tricky for our GPS, but the Waze app got us back on track.
Once you’re in, there are parking lots in 3 locations around the park.
The trails are generally flat and offer paved sections for bikes and strollers.
PHS provides community garden space onsite with water access.
We wandered a little off the trail to find Poquessing Creek. They’re rebuilding the stone overpass bridge. Look to the right to discover a shady watering hole.
There are restrooms with plumbing, kiosks with maps and interpretive signage on the trails.
On a summer afternoon visit, we saw a fox, rabbit, lots of butterlflies and a variety of birds.
Below is a park map. You can pick one up at the park kiosks as well. Note that this is a popular location also for Pokemon Go expeditions, and for flying tiny airplanes. There is a separate landing field area in the park.
